These videos enable you to see the lighted features in action.  Note that the lighting scheme starts up progressively as seen in the dry-dock sequence in the Motion Picture.  After the start up sequence, the system finishes in Impulse (standby) mode.  With the press of a button, the mode changes to warp mode and then back to Impulse mode if you desire. The shuttle bay landing lights are always on.  The photon torpedo effect is activated with the press of a button.
